The Mooring Resort is located on the eastern end of Ao Yon beach, next to the chilled-out beach club and restaurant - The Cove Phuket.
Ao Yon located on the Cape Panwa Peninsula is one of the last peaceful yet stunning bays on Phuket island and has two white sandy beaches separated by a rocky headland you can easily walk over.
Sheltered by the Cape Panwa on the East and Chalong Bay on the West, there are almost no waves all year. Secluded and unknown by most tourists, it is enjoyed mostly by local fishermen and families on weekends. The rest of the days, you will have the whole beach to yourself!
It offers stunning views of surrounding islands, such as Koh Lon and Koh Hi (Coral Island) which are easily accessible by traditional long-tail boats. Koh Maiton and Koh Bon are also nearby giving you the opportunity to walk out your bungalow, jump on a boat waiting for you on the beach and within 20 minutes be snorkeling with fish or sitting on a deserted beach having a picnic.
Cape Panwa offers an array of unique authentic local experiences in a typical relaxed Thai atmosphere, a few minutes away from The Mooring.
Offering easy access to myriad of islands, this part of Phuket has a clear advantage over Phuket’s West coast. To the North of Cape Panwa is Phang Nga Bay and its dramatic scenery of limestone karsts emerging from the emerald waters, Koh Yao Yai (30 minutes by speedboat), Koh Yao Noi and the famous James Bond Island.
When to visit
Sun worshippers tend to visit from October to April, although we can give you plenty of reasons to join us all year round.
We celebrate all the Thai holidays including Songkran in April and Loy Kratong, our highlight full moon festival in November. Don’t miss the Phuket town’s Vegetarian Festival in October or seeing the city lit by the red Chinese lanterns of the Chinese New Year celebrations in January or February, depending on the Moon calendar.
Diving season runs from October to April but the best time to spot manta rays or avoid crowded diving spots during the rest of the year.
Less hot and less crowded, the Green Season – from May to October - offers more value for money in terms of accommodation and experiences.
The Mooring Resort can be reached from Phuket (HKT) airport in 45 minutes by car. We can arrange taxi transportation or suggest car rental agencies for the duration of your stay.
